At the time, building such a house was expansive and sometimes materials had to be ordered from other counties, such as England and Italy, so most of the houses were occupied by traders who usually traveled to Penang, because the business relationship between Phuket and Penang was very good and the Phuket way of life and culture were similar to Penang.
